Calling all Manitoba Country Music Artists!
The Manitoba Country Music Association (“MCMA”) and the CCMA are partnering once again for the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest
Country Music Week® 2016, being held this year in London, Ontario from September 8-11 is just around the corner – and we want to help you get there.
The MCMA is once again running a contest in tandem with the Canadian Country Music Association ® (CCMA®) for your chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play alongside Canada’s brightest country music stars and most cherished legends during the Canadian country music industry’s largest annual event.
How it works:
Each province has been asked to select one country music act/artist (Act) to represent their province in the annual “CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest” (National Contest).
When all the participating provincial Acts from across Canada are chosen for the National Contest, the selected Acts will be highlighted via an online poll (which will not be administered through a social media platform, but rather a stand-alone URL ), set to go live on June 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. ET. That’s the time for (province) to shine! Each province will promote their Act and encourage the public to vote. Each voter can only place one (1) vote for who they would like to see perform during Country Music Week (only one vote per IP address will be accepted).
The National Contest will run for 10 days, and will close on June 17, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. ET. The Act that receives the most votes on the poll by the time the National Contest closes will win a performance spot at a public, official CCMA-sanctioned event during Country Music Week 2016. The winner of the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest will be announced at 9:00 a.m. ET on June 27, 2016.
Acts that are interested in representing Manitoba on this National Contest are required to email their submission (requirement details below) to the MCMA at manitobacma@gmail.com by MIDNIGHT May 8th,2016
Note: You must be a resident of Manitoba and a MCMA Industry member to be eligible
Submission Requirements (to be emailed to the MCMA – manitobacma@gmail.com)
All Manitoba submissions will be juried by the MCMA, and one successful Act will be selected to move on to the National Contest for their chance to win a performance spot during Country Music Week® in London, Ontario, at a public, official CCMA-sanctioned event.
What the National Contest winner receives:
There is only one (1) prize awarded, which goes to the Winner. The prize consists of:

ABOUT DAUPHIN’S COUNTRYFEST
The 27th annual Dauphin’s Countryfest takes place June 30-July 3, 2016. Canada’s longest running country music festival has been attracting the biggest names in country music to one of the most beautiful regions of Manitoba since 1990. Situated on the edge of Riding Mountain National Park, the unique outdoor amphitheatre built into the side of an escarpment provides every patron a perfect view from any one of the 14,000 seats in the house.
Dauphin’s Countryfest is a not-for-profit organization that consists of a 12-member volunteer Board of Directors and a membership of more than 2000 loyal supporters. Organizers credit over 2000 volunteers who work tirelessly each year providing essential services for the festival weekend, while fundraising for their respective community organizations. In addition to various community contributions, Countryfest pays out approximately $150,000 each year to community organizations that provide services for the festival.
Dauphin’s Countryfest was named a finalist at the prestigious Canadian Tourism Awards in 2013, nominated in the category of Tourism Event of the Year. The festival was also awarded the 2012 Philanthropist of the Year Award from The Dauphin & District Community Foundation, given to individuals or businesses that show the true spirit of philanthropy and giving.

Sons of the Pioneers are synonymous with the ultimate in Cowboy music. For decades the premier western singing group has musically painted unforgettable images and stories of horses, cattle, cowboys, “night herds”, tall timber, cool water, canyons and prairies. Their original songs like “Tumbling Tumbleweeds”, “Cool Water” and “Ghost Riders in the Sky” are classics forever entwined into the lore and mystique of the American West. Both “Tumbleweeds” and “Cool Water” have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
The current group’s configuration Tommy Nallie, Ken Lattimore, Randy Rudd, Mark Abbott and Justin Branum is part of a continuous and uninterrupted 80 year existence in which they have accumulated more coveted honors and awards than anyone in Western music. The group has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Western Music Association Hall of Fame and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame among others. The Smithsonian Institute named them as “National Treasures”.

The program provides unparalleled educational, mentorship, networking and exposure opportunities unlike any other opportunity offered in the country genre.
The CCMA is extremely proud of the way this program has grown over the years, and of how the Canadian country music community has embraced this venture. Applying is simple, and the opportunities are endless. The CCMA Discovery Program has certainly opened a number of doors for the finalists who have experienced it over the years.
