Manitoba’s Country Music Community Converges on Winnipeg for Industry Panels on Nov 11

http://www.manitobamusic.com/calendar/display,event/86328/manitoba-country-music-meeting

Canada’s country music scene is going through a boom, with touring and recording artists making waves across the nation and around the globe. Manitoba’s own country music community is building on its reputation for stellar talent, producing acclaimed acts like Doc Walker, The Bros. Landreth, Ray St. Germain, Heather Longstaffe, Don Amero, Kendra Kay, Petric, and more.

Manitoba Music is teaming up with the Manitoba Country Music Association to bolster the local with the inaugural Manitoba Country Music Meeting, featuring industry panels and networking opportunities. Taking place at Manitoba Music’s Resource Centre on November 11, the event will give participants a chance to connect with and learn from visiting experts and local peers alike.

Panel discussions will cover business fundamentals specific to a career in country music, from building a fan-base to plugging into radio. Panelist include reps from the label, management, publicity, and production worlds, including Anya Wilson of Anya Wilson Promotion & Publicity, CBG Artist Development’s Chris Burke-Gaffney, Invictus Entertainment Group’s Rob Cyrynowski, MDM Recordings’ Mike Denney, and Parallel Entertainment’s Tim Hunze.

Manitoba Country Music Meeting is happening in conjunction with the MCMA’s annual celebration homegrown talent, the Manitoba Country Music Awards. This year’s gala, which is co-presented with Dauphin’s Countryfest, takes place at the Metropolitan Entertainment Centre on November 10. Hardware in 21 different categories will be handed out and some of Manitoba’s top country acts are slated to perform.

2017 CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest

Calling all Manitoba Country Music Artists! The Manitoba

Country Music Association (“MCMA”) and the CCMA are partnering once again for the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest

PotashCorp Country Music Week® 2017, being held this year in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (September 7 – 10, 2017) is just around the corner – and we want to help you get there.

The MCMA is once again running a contest in tandem with the Canadian Country Music Association ® (CCMA®) for your chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play alongside Canada’s brightest country music stars and most cherished legends during the Canadian country music industry’s largest annual event.

How it works:
Each province has been asked to select one country music act/artist (Act) to represent their province in the annual “CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest” (National Contest).

Once the provincial Acts are chosen, these Acts will move forward to an online poll (which will not be administered through a social media platform, but rather a stand-alone URL). The CCMA will provide a link to the poll. MIAs and selected Acts are encouraged to promote voting through websites, social media, media opportunities, etc. To vote, the voter must click through to the link and simply select which Act on the poll they would like to see perform at PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017. The Act that receives the most votes on the poll by 5:00 p.m. ET on June 16, 2017 will win a performance spot at PotashCorp Country Music Week. Each voter can only place one (1) vote for who they would like to see perform. The winner will be notified by 5:00 p.m. ET on June 19, 2017. The winner of the CCMA Spotlight Performance Contest will be announced on June 23, 2017.

Acts that are interested in representing Manitoba on this National Contest are required to email their submission (requirement details below) to the MCMA at manitobacma@gmail.com by MIDNIGHT May 10th,2017

Note: You must be a resident of Manitoba and a MCMA Industry member to be eligible

Submission Requirements (to be emailed to the MCMA – manitobacma@gmail.com)

  • Two Songs (MP3 format or links)
  • Artist Bio (no more than 50 words)
  • One Promotional Photo (JPEG Print quality)
  • Social Media Platforms (please include links to social media outlets you use (i.e., link to Facebook artist page, twitter account, website etc)

All Manitoba submissions will be juried by the MCMA, and one successful Act will be selected to move on to the National Contest for their chance to win a performance spot during Country Music Week® in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at a public, official CCMA-sanctioned event.

What the National Contest winner receives:

There is only one (1) prize awarded, which goes to the Winner. The prize consists of:

  • One (1) performance spot at a public, official CCMA-sanctioned event during PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017
  • One (1) CCMA membership (one-year duration)
  • One (1) complimentary delegate pass to PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017 (non-transferable)
  • One (1) hotel room for four (4) nights of accommodation during PotashCorp Country Music Week 2017 (the evenings of September 7-10) at the Holiday Inn in Saskatoon
  • Transportation (economy class) to and from the Winner’s hometown to Saskatoon (up to a maximum of $1,000 CDN)

Note: In the case that the winner is a duo or band, the CCMA will review the prize package on a case by case basis
